Transplanting Zinnia

Post by ka_khan »

I have sowed the seeds on 19th.The seedling are about 3 inches high with 4-5 leaves. Is it time to transplant them?
Another question could they be grown in containers? If yes what size?

Dear Ka_Khan
It's good you can grow seeds of Zinnia at home. As for your information you grow seeds on 19th April, now its becomes 3 to 4 leaves means 11 to 12 days passed from growing seeds time. For Smal size Zinnia, you can tranplant one plant per pot into 8" to 12" pot size. For tall size Zinnia you can transplant in 14" pot. As far as big size container also increase no of plants per pot. I can also grow Zinnia seeds and trasplant into 8" pot, now it becomes healty plant. See images at my subject "Step by Step Summer 2013 Seeds Germination Process"
Best Regards

Yes you can transplant them now but it would have been better if you had direct sowed the zinnia seeds where they were to grow because zinnias don't handle the transplant shock very well.

Yes they can be grown in containers, 1 to 3 plants in a 12 inch container would be fine.

Ok. That's good. As soon as transplant, your Zinnia become more healthy flowering plant.
